Experts in Autism Spectrum and Neurodevelopmental Disorders

A.M.P. Autism is dedicated to helping children and adults reach their fullest potential — through Achieving Milestones and Progress. We focus on one of the most critical, yet often overlooked components of developmental disorders — diagnostic evaluations. A.M.P. Autism provides you or your loved one with an accurate diagnosis, and a comprehensive report, before setting up a personalized plan for treatment.

Developmental disorders are on a wide spectrum — meaning they greatly vary from person to person and in serverity. They are also multi-faceted in the sense that they can be coupled together — for example, Austism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) — or combined with an underlying psychological issue — such as depression or anxiety. For these reasons, it is highly unlikely that a general therapist or practitioner will be able to pinpoint exactly where one lies on the spectrum or if even at all. The less accurate the diagnosis, the less efective any treatment will be — and the less likely any sufficient progress can be made.

If you suspect a developmental disorder, or have even been previously diagnosed without extensive and/or recent testing, it is important to get a comprehensive evaluation from a specialized clinic — and A.M.P. Autism is quickly becoming one of the leading specialized clinics in the Los Angeles area.

    Why Choose A.M.P. Autism?
    Experience. Clinical Services. Innovation. Compassion.

A.M.P. Autism is led by Tamar Apelian (Psy.D.), a licensed psychologist with nearly 20 years of clinical experience. Before starting her own practice, Dr. Apelian conducted diagnostic evaluations at the renowned Child and Adult Neurodevelopmental (CAN) Clinic at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for 9 years. Throughout her career, she has not only developed clinical-level experience, but also research-level reliability on autism-diagnostic measures. She has also trained many clinicians and researchers at UCLA and other university-based autism centers. Her diagnostic and testing methodologies have met the industry's gold standard for reliability.

Dr. Apelian has helped thousands and she is here to help you too. A.M.P. Autism's leading clinical services produce reports that are used to acquire special benefits -- particularly critical interventions, therapies/treatments, and funding -- from insurance providers, school districts, Regional Centers, and other goverment organizations. Many of these benefits are also offered by the state at little to no cost to you.

Dr. Apelian takes an innovative approach to her practice. To begin, A.M.P. Autism uses the same leading testing tools that many of the larger, institutional clinics use. However, unlike the larger clinics, A.M.P. Autism is more affordable and accessible. The larger clinics generally charge far more to cash patients than we do. We work on a sliding scale with certain low income families. We also accept several major insurances that can offset out of pocket expenses. The larger clinics also tend to have incredibly long waiting lists -- sometimes for three months or more. We refuse to put you on a ridiculously long waiting list -- most patients are seen between one to six weeks.

Ultimately, our clinic cares most for you and/or your loved ones. We are passionate about helping people, and understand the challenges that individuals affected by developmental and psychological disorders -- as well as their loved ones -- can face. That is

Autism in 2015 with one goal in mind – to offer the same advanced-level of expertise that the larger, institution clinics provide, but at the greater level of personal care, accessibility, and affordability that you can only get with a small clinic. In other words, A.M.P. Autism provides large clinic expertise, with small clinic accessibility.
